Per CPSC data, table saws cause ~67,000 injuries per year in the US, with kickback being the primary mechanism. The workpiece binds between the blade and fence, and the spinning blade launches it back at the operator at 100+ mph. Prevention: use a riving knife (not just a splitter), never stand directly behind the blade, use push sticks for cuts under 6 inches wide, and never remove the riving knife.
