The number on the tire sidewall (e.g., "Max 44 PSI") is the maximum safe pressure for the tire. The correct inflation pressure for YOUR vehicle is on the driver door jamb sticker or in the owner manual. Over-inflating to the sidewall max causes center-strip wear, harsh ride, and reduced traction. Under-inflating causes shoulder wear and overheating. Check pressure cold (before driving) with a digital gauge.
