For cinematic motion, set shutter speed to double the frame rate: 24fps → 1/48s, 60fps → 1/120s. This ratio was established in film cameras where the rotating shutter disc exposed each frame for half of the frame interval (180 degrees of a 360-degree rotation). Higher shutter speeds produce a staccato, hyper-real look. Use variable ND filters in bright light rather than increasing shutter speed.
